Novant Health has opened an urgent care clinic on Jake Alexander Boulevard in the same space where another urgent care closed earlier this year.

The office, called Novant Health Urgent Care and Occupational Medicine, is located at 1904 Jake Alexander Boulevard W., suite 301, in the Manning office park. The health-care provider has several other urgent care clinics in the Charlotte and Winston-Salem areas.

The office will be staffed by doctors who rotate among Novant Health’s urgent care facilities. It can provide care for non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses. It also offers immunizations, physicals for sports participation and on-site X-ray and lab services. The location will also provide complete services for employers including employment physicals as well as lab screening and other services for the workplace.

The office has access to the medical records of any patient who has been treated at any Novant Health practice. Donna Rhodes is the office manager.

At the end of February, Rowan Urgent Care, run by the Schumacher Group, closed, and officials with Schumacher Group wouldn’t give a reason why. The Schumacher Group used to staff the emergency department at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center before pulling its staff out last fall after being told its contract with Novant would be terminated due to a lack of improvement in the quality of patient care.

Hours for the new urgent care are: Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The office number is 704-638-1551.
