The Ninth Golden Anniversary Celebration was held on June 17 at Rufty-Holmes Senior Center, for those couples who have been married for 50 years or more.
Special entertainment was provided by Salisbury’s own Matthew Weaver — who has played at the Grand Ole Opry — and Clay Lunsford, the president of the NC Thumb Pickers Association.
Ray and Molly Van Havere won the prize for being the couple married the longest at 67 years (married Dec. 9, 1947). Rufty-Holmes Senior Center and Trinity Oaks Retirement Community Sponsored the event.
