Rowan weather: Sunny and hot

Summer is officially here now, and the heat and humidity will continue through this week.

After a couple of stormy days last week, today will be mostly sunny and hot, with a high of 96. Tonight there’s a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9. The low will be 71.

Tuesday will be even hotter, with mostly sunny skies and a high of 97. The heat index will be up to 101 degrees. The low will be 72 degrees.

A 30 percent chance of showers and storms is predicted for Wednesday afternoon. Otherwise, it will be mostly sunny and hot again, 95, with little wind. A 40 percent of showers and storms is possible Wednesday night, with a low of 71.

Thursday, too, has a 30 percent chance of showers and storms in the afternoon, with partly sunny skies and a high of 96. The chance continues into Thursday night, with a low of 72.

Friday also has a 30 percent chance of showers and storms, with partly sunny skies and a high of 93. There’s a 30 percent chance of rain again Friday night, with a low around 70.

Saturday, the chance of storms and showers goes up to 40 percent, with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 90. The 40 percent chance of rain continues into Saturday night and Sunday. The low Saturday will be 69.

Sunday will also be mostly cloudy with the chance of thunderstorms and showers, but less hot, with a high near 88.
