Yadkin Grove welcomes Rev. Rice
The congregation of Yadkin Grove Missionary Baptist Church announces the appointment of the Rev. Stanley Rice as their new pastor. Pastor Rice was ordained by the Rowan Baptist Association and has served more than 25 years in ministry positions that include associate minister, deacon and trustee. He is married to Cynthia J. Rice.
Yadkin Grove welcomes Pastor Rice as he gives his first sermon as pastor on Sunday with the service beginning at 11 a.m. Yadkin Grove Missionary Baptist Church is located at 325 Leonard Road in Salisbury and has been in the community for over 145 years. Annual Women’s Day at New Zion Baptist
The Annual Women’s Day will be observed at New Zion Baptist Church, 2785 Dunn’s Mountain on Sunday, July 12 during the 11 a.m. service. The speaker will be Portia Brandon of the Woman’s Baptist Home and Foreign Missionary Convention of Raleigh. Brandon has been a teacher and speaker on the local, state and national levels for more than 30 years.
Drawing from the context of real life she handles the word of God and directs audiences to consider what concerns them in light of God’s timeless truths.
Brandon has a bachelor’s degree in public administration from Shaw University in Raleigh and a master of divinity in religious education from Shaw University Divinity School. She was the recipient of the 2012 General Baptist State Convention, Congress of Christian Education Leadership Award.
Ladies are asked to please wear white. The Rev. V. Patrick Jones is host pastor.
Ten @ 10 worship services at J.C. Presbyterian
John Calvin Presbyterian Church, 1620 Brenner Ave., will begin a 10-week series of Sunday morning worship services at 10 a.m. in the church fellowship hall on Sunday, concluding on Labor Day weekend.
The “Ten @ 10” services are an annual summer event where the church congregation moves from the sanctuary to the fellowship hall for a change of pace in summer worship. The services will be informal with shorts and casual dress. The congregation will be seated around tables of fellowship in groups of 5-6 for the services and fellowship. The focus of the services will be on spiritual development.
The Rev. Kellie Browne will speak on the five marks of spiritual growth that were first presented by William J. Carl II at the Lewis Preaching Series at First Presbyterian Church earlier in the year. The five marks for spiritual growth include everyone reading the Bible on a daily basis, everyone praying daily, modeling the faith for others to follow, outside evangelism and social justice.
Each worship service will be followed with light refreshments and a time for fellowship.
Community family fun day
On Sunday at Dunn’s Mountain Baptist Church, 1350 Old Stone House Road, service begins at 10:30 a.m. followed by a free hotdog lunch. There will be inflatables for everyone to enjoy including a double water slide and other games as well.
This event is free to the public and a way of showing the love of Jesus by giving back to the community and to celebrate freedom.

In My Father’s House Outreach Ministries
In My Father’s House Outreach Ministries, led by the Rev. Roosevelt Jenkins, continues its series on The Purpose Driven Life, on Thursday, July 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Hurley Room at Rowan Public Library, 201 W. Innes St.

Bishop Mickens to lead revival services at Tower of Power
The United Ministerial Alliance of Salisbury-Rowan will host its annual revival at the Tower of Power United Holy Church, 601 E. Cemetery St., Wednesday, July 8 through Friday, July 10 at 7 p.m.
The guest revivalist is Bishop Elvin Mickens Sr., pastor of Mt. Calvary Holy Church Family Worship Center in Concord since 1991. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Livingstone College and a master’s degree in Biblical studies from New Vision University of Lincolnton. He is a former member of Mt. Calvary Holy Church Salisbury, where he served under Bishop Harvey Rice Sr. He was formerly employed as a Clinical Chaplain at the NC Department of Corrections.
The Rev. William D. Turner is the host pastor. The Rev. Joseph Robinson serves as President of the U.M.A.
Community Mission Day at Gethsemane Missionary
Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church will have a Community Mission Day on Saturday, July 11 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Come out and enjoy the food, fun and fellowship. There will be goody bags for children and adults.
