Hear about David Freeze’s trip at reception today

David Freeze, just back from his Alabama-to-Ontario bicycle journey, will be honored at an open house and reception from 2-4 p.m. today at the China Grove Roller Museum.
The event is sponsored by the museum and the Salisbury Post.
Freeze will share a PowerPoint presentation about his trip, which took 35 days, went through nine states and, for the first time, took him into Canada. He traced the route of the Underground Railroad that helped slaves escape from the South.
Along the way he saw farms, lighthouses, Civl War battlefields, windmills, lakes and met a lot of people. “As I always say, people make these long rides worthwhile,” he wrote in his conclusion last week.
This is the third consecutive summer Freeze has taken a long solo ride and reported his daily progress in the Salisbury Post. He has written two books chronicling the experiences, “Lord, Ride with Me Today” and “Prayers, Pedaling and Perseverance: 35 Days Cycling Solo from Maine to Key West.” The books will be available for purchase.
He is already at work on a third book about this summer’s ride.
The museum will be open for tours during the open house. Admission is free and the public is invited. For more information, call 704-433-3912.
