Salisbury Police charged a man for marijuana possession after they went to his home to serve an arrest warrant for a previous assault charge.
Jeremy Allen Heafner, 34, of the 100 block of Henry Laurens Circle, was charged with simple possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and assault on a female, all of which are misdemeanors.
Police went to Heafner’s home Sunday when they saw his vehicle, a black Dodge passenger car, in the parking lot. Officers knocked several times and asked Heafner, who came to the door, if he was aware he had a warrant issued for his arrest.
He wasn’t properly dressed, so officers allowed him to go back inside to put on more clothing. While officers were inside the house they spotted a plastic container on the kitchen counter with some marijuana inside and three smoking devices.
Heafner has been convicted of possession of marijuana and possession of a malt beverage by person under 21. Heafner also has a pending court case involving a hit and run incident that resulted in property damage, reckless driving and failure to report and accident.
