A registered sex offender in Rowan County faces eight counts of statutory rape in Iredell County.

Carl Franklin Riddle, 42, of the 2000 block of Gheen Road, has been on the sex offender registry since 2005 for a conviction of indecent liberties with a minor in Rowan County.

He was arrested Sept. 28 following a report of abuse against a 13-year-old female. The victim said the abuse occurred in 2010 when Riddle and the victim were both visiting a person in eastern Iredell County. After numerous interviews and further investigation, Det. Sgt. Mike Benfield obtained eight warrants for Riddle for statutory rape/sex offense.

Riddle is in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $350,000 bond.
