Two Salisbury men were charged with possession with intent to sell when police discovered them carrying marijuana during a Livingstone football game, according to a report.

Police reported smelling a strong odor of marijuana at the northeast entrance to the football field during Saturday’s game. Police observed two young men dressed identically in dark clothing and black baseball caps carrying light-brown book bags, as well as a young man in a red-and-white striped hoodie or sweatshirt, who was also carrying a book bag.

According to the report, officers smelled marijuana while walking behind Allan Ali Williams, 22, who was wearing the sweatshirt. The arresting officer asked for Williams’ identification, and asked to see inside the bag. Williams told her it was not his bag.

According to the police report, there was a small bag of marijuana inside the front pocket of the book bag. Inside the larger compartment the officer reported finding two large bags of marijuana and four individually wrapped bags — or a total of 64 grams, according to the report.

Police also charged Darryl Leon Smith, Jr., 24, when they allegedly found 20 grams of marijuana inside a mason jar in his backpack.

Williams has been charged with possession with intent to make, sell or distribute a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and selling or delivering a controlled substance within 300 feet of a school property. Williams has previously been charged in Rowan County with drug possession. He has been placed in the Rowan County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond.

Smith was charged with possession with intent to make, sell or distribute a controlled substance and selling or delivering a controlled substance within 300 feet of a school property. He has no previous criminal record. Smith has been placed in the Rowan County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond.
