Two charged in N. Shaver St. shooting

A Salisbury man and woman have been charged in an Oct. 16 shooting that occurred on North Shaver Street.
One suspect, Willie Earl Williams, Jr., 30, of Imperial Drive, was arrested Friday.
The other suspect, Kapetra Monique Simpson Lyerly, 33, of Park Avenue, was booked into the Rowan County Detention Center Friday morning. At press time, she was being held under $20,000 bond on a probation violation.
Sunday’s press release from Salisbury Police said that a warrant against Lyerly on the charge of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury would be served in the near future.
According to Salisbury Police, on Oct. 16, Williams and Lyerly allegedly approached two men who were sitting on the front porch of a vacant house in the 500 block of North Shaver St.
Williams and Lyerly allegedly tried to steal the victims’ beer, after which the two men were shot in an altercation.
The two victims were treated for gunshot wounds at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Both are expected to make a full recovery, according to Salisbury Police.
Williams was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, and was placed under $50,000 bond.
