A steady rain fell off and on, just as the runners were pushing through the challenging Bostian Elementary 5K course. A brief rainbow filled the western sky just before Caleb Steedley topped the field with a time of 19 minutes and 48 seconds. Wendy Marchinko led the women with a time of 23 minutes and 24 seconds. Marchinko, Bostian Elementary school nurse and mother of Carson High cross country star Zachary Marchinko, and Steedley remained near the finish line to encourage other runners while they finished.

Race director Michael Thomas said, “We had a good turnout at the Bostian Bulldog 5K despite the rain. The race was an opportunity to promote community health and raise funds for the school. We would like to thank everyone who came out to this fun event and were especially grateful for all of our volunteers.”

The Bostian Elementary PTA organized the 5K. Sponsors included Shea Holmes, Stallings Electric, Cannon Pharmacy, Encore on Main and F&M Bank.
