The Spencer Board of Aldermen will be going over the applications it has received for interim town manager at their next meeting.
The Spencer Board of Aldermen will have its regular meeting on Nov. 10 at 7 p.m.
The board will review the applications during closed session.
Town Manager Larry Smith previously announced that he was resigning from his position on Nov. 30. The board discussed how it wanted to deal with Smith’s leaving during their Oct. 13 meeting.
During the meeting, the board decided to advertise the opening for an interim town manager to the public in local papers and Managers’ Associations publications within an advertising budget of $3,000. The ad asked for resumes, told applicants where they could apply and let applicants know that the town of Spencer is an EEOC employer.
Nov. 6 was the last day applications were accepted for the position.
The board also approved advertising for a permanent town manager during the Oct. 13 meeting. Within a $3,000 budget, the board put ads in similar publications with the same information as the ad for interim town manager. The newly elected board will review those applications on Dec. 8 during a closed session and then open the session up again to decide how to move forward.
Almost every newly elected board member and Mayor Jim Gobbel said hiring a new town manager is on the top of the list of priorities for the board.
The board will meet in the Spencer Municipal Building at 600 S. Salisbury Ave.
