A Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate will speak Thursday during the Rowan County Democratic Party’s regularly scheduled meeting.

Kevin Griffin, President and CEO of Durham staffing company AVANT Group, is scheduled to speak to Rowan Democrats Thursday at 7 p.m. In October, Griffin declared his intent to seek one of North Carolina’s U.S. Senate seats.

The regularly scheduled Rowan Democratic Party meeting will be in the second floor meeting room of the Rowan County Administration Building, 130 West Innes St. in Salisbury.

Griffin’s priorities include education as preparation for life, support of teachers, veterans’ healthcare, employment and life transitions, term limits on Congress and empowerment of people through employment.

Griffin’s bid for U.S. Senate is the first time he has sought political office. In the U.S. Senate Democratic primary, he will face attorney and former State House representative Deborah Ross and Spring Lake Mayor Chris Rey.

Incumbent U.S. Sen. Richard Burr will face the Democratic nominee in the general election.
