Bonded Logistics newest business on Airport Road

A Charlotte-based company is one of the newest additions to the Salisbury business landscape.

Bonded Logistics, a third-party logistics company, has leased a 290,000-square-foot warehouse on Airport Road near Cedar Springs Road. Vice President of Business Development Sean Kelley described Bonded as a company that distributes products made by other companies that may not have space to house and ship items. A company would send its raw products to a Bonded warehouse. Bonded would then distribute the raw goods to a manufacturer or other business.

Kelley mentioned a tool maker and restaurant supplies company as customers who use Bonded.

The company already has its first client in the building and is in the process of up-fitting another portion of the facility. In November, the Salisbury City Council gave Bonded an industrial revitalization grant, which is intended to encourage business development in underutilized corridors or upgrade older or vacant buildings. The grant was worth $25,000.

Kelley said the company first occupied the warehouse in late September or early October. By mid March, Kelley said the warehouse should be completely filled and done with any upfitting work.

In a prepared statement, Bonded Logistics President Scott Carr said the company is looking forward to help support the local manufacturing base with its Salisbury facility.

“We see a lot of potential in and around Salisbury,” Carr said. “It fits our current needs well, and we look forward to growing our business and providing jobs to the local economy.”

With its Salisbury facility, Bonded now has 1.8 million square feet of space across 11 buildings in Charlotte, Concord and Salisbury.

Kelley said Bonded is a second-generation company that’s been around for more than 40 years.
