Blotter: Salisbury man charged with child abuse after babysitting

A Salisbury man was arrested Saturday on multiple child abuse charges after babysitting two children.
Joseph Allen Pruss, 43, of 1219 Tammy’s Park road in Salisbury, was arrested on two counts of misdemeanor child abuse and one count of assault by strangulation.
Pruss was babysitting two different children, according to warrants. One child received bruising and carpet burns on the face. The second child had bruising on the face from being thrown against a wall, according to warrants. Pruss allegedly attempted to choke one of the children by placing his hand around the child’s neck, according to warrants.
The incident occurred on Nov. 18, according to warrants.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office made the arrest.
Pruss was booked into the Rowan County Detention Center on Saturday morning under a $5,000 bail.
In other Rowan County Sheriff’s Office reports:
• Dontay Lamont Rozzel, 18, of 125 Lavista Road in Rockwell, was charged Sunday with being intoxicated and disruptive, simple possession of a scheduled four controlled substance and consuming alcohol under the age of 19.
• Johnathan Dale Moore, 29, of 2335 Ellerbe Drive in Kannapolis, was charged Saturday with three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, simple possession of a schedule IV controlled substance and driving while license revoked. Moore allegedly attempted to sell marijuana to a minor.
• Timothy Lynn McManus, 54, of 2400 Lowerstone Church Church Road in Rockwell, was charged Friday with possession of drug paraphernalia, felony possession of cocaine and driving while license revoked.
• Jessica April Parrish, 34, of 715 7th Street in Spencer, was charged Friday with possession of drug paraphernalia, felony possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana up to half an ounce.
• Jeremy Edward Moss, 29, of 295 Hyde Lane in Salisbury, was charged Friday with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and simple possession of a schedule III controlled substance. Moss allegedly possessed syringes and suboxone strips.
In Salisbury Police Department reports:
• Nathan James Rose, 27, of 216 South Link Ave., was charged Sunday with trafficking opium or heroin and misdemeanor larceny. Rose allegedly possessed between 4 and 14 grams of heroin. Warrants state Rose stole one hoodie and two packs of gloves from Walmart.
• Tina May Morton, 38, of 1116 Kenly St., was charged Sunday with felony possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana up to 0.5 ounces and possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Kiilantia Mashore, 18, of 1600 Old Wilkesboro Road, was charged Friday with identity theft and obtaining property by false pretenses. Mashore allegedly selected several items off of store shelves at Walmart and presented them to the customer service desk for a refund. Mashore also allegedly used another person’s ID card.
• Shavieka Coleman, 18, of 623 Bringle Ferry Road, was charged Friday with obtaining property by false pretenses and second degree trespassing. Coleman selected several items off of store shelves at Walmart and presented them to the customer service desk for a refund.
In other reports:
• Patricia Marie Oldam, 35, of 10443 Singletree Lane in Davidson, was charged Friday with forgery of instrument and uttering a forged instrument. Oldam allegedly used a counterfeit check to Papa Pizza.
