Livingstone men win again

FT. VALLEY, Ga. — Livingstone got 26 points from Ty Newman en route to a 98-87 victory here Wednesday night over Ft. Valley State.
After starting the season 1-5, last night’s win was the Blue Bears’ second straight. Livingstone (3-5) continues its road trip on Friday, visiting Paine College (Ga.) for a 4 p.m. contest.
Newman connected on 10 of 18 shots, including three 3-point field goals to lead the Blue Bears. He was also 3-for-4 from the foul line.
Nasir Austin followed Newman with 19 points for the Blue Bears and Cordero Holt added 13. Daryl Trynham scored 10 points for Livingstone. Holt and Jimmy Wilson led the Blue Bears with eight rebounds each.
Marcilis Hansberry led Ft. Valley (2-7) with 20 points and Tyler Edwards added 19.
Livingstone led at halftime, 45-36, and continued to shoot well during the second half.
Oddly enough, the Blue Bears made and attempted exactly the same number of field goals in each half — 18-of-36 — 50 percent.
Livingstone won the rebound battle over the Wildcats as well, 43-42.
