West Rowan’s boys romped 74-33 at South Iredell on Wednesday.
Paris Hillie led the Falcons (4-3) with 19 points.
Caleb Mauldin scored 14, Payne Stolsworth had 12, Jayson Delgado added a career-high 11, and Martavio Rankin had eight.
Zane Haglan scored six for South Iredell (2-3).

Janiya Downs scored 27 points for the Raiders, and Taziah Hardin had eight.
Shemya Stanback led the Wonders (3-4) with eight points.

Destiny Jackson scored a career-high 17 points for the Cougars. Jackson had 15 points at halftime.
Kailie Ketchie scored eight points for Carson.
Olivia Gabriel and McKenzie Gadson scored seven each.

College football
Catawba sophomore linebacker Kyle Kitchens has been named a D2CCA second team All-American.
Kitchens claims his second All-America honor as he was earlier named to AFCA squad.

Charlotte’s Kalif Phillips (A.L. Brown) was named to the All-Conference USA second team.
This was the first season that the 49ers competed at the FBS level and it was Charlotte’s inaugural year as a member of Conference USA.
Phillips ranked sixth in C-USA with 87.4 rushing yards per game, despite being hurt late in the season.
He tied for first in C-USA with 190 carries and rushed for 961 yards.

A crew from the South Atlantic Conference will officiate the Division II national championship game.

College baseball
Appalachian State announced three baseball signees — infielder Cole McKissock (Colorado Springs), infielder J.T. Stone (Fayetteville Pine Forest) and and infielder/right-handed pitcher Alex Vanderstok ( West Forsyth).

College soccer
Pfeiffer men’s soccer coach Bob Reasso was named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America National Coach of the Year.
Reasso guided the Falcons to a national Championship and a 25-0 season.

Men’s hoops
Augusta’s Keshun Sherrill (West Rowan) scored a career-high 43 points in Tuesday’s 89-85 win against Coastal Georgia.
Sherrill is averaging 28.3 points and leads Division II in scoring.

Michael Connor Jr. (North Rowan) scored 18 points for Western Nebraska in an 84-77 win against North Platte CC.

In Livingstone’s 66-57 win at Albany State on Tuesday, Ty Newman and Eric Dubose made their season debuts.
Nasir Austin led the Blue Bears with 19 points.
Newman scored 16 points, and Dubose had 10.

Women’s hoops
Brielle Blaire (North Rowan) made her season debut for Texas Tech on Friday and had 10 points and six rebounds off the bench in a 75-70 win against Santa Clara.
Blaire was in the starting lineup in her second game on Saturday.

NCHSAA
Tre’ Harbison of Crest and Darius McGhee of Roxboro Community School are the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award-winners.
Harbison had a huge game in the NCHSAA state 3AA football championship game, as the running back exploded for seven rushing touchdowns as the Chargers rolled to a 55-21 victory over Southern Durham at Kenan Stadium.
The senior running back, who plans to continue his career at the University of Virginia, carried the ball 24 times for 295 rushing yards, and his seven touchdowns is the second most in the modern era of the NCHSAA championships.
His TD runs came on scampers of 28, 2, 72, 28, 4, 1 and 26 yards.
McGhee etched his name in the NCHSAA record book in boys basketball . He poured in 42 points in the Bulldogs’ 78-41 victory over Franklin Academy and then tossed in 55 points in a 90-54 triumph over Woods Charter.
