A Salisbury man remains behind bars after he was arrested following a meth lab bust at the home he rented with a West Bank Street couple.

Salisbury Police charged Trampas Lee Money, 43, of the 1100 block of West Bank Street, with maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, possession of a controlled substance schedule I, possession of an immediate precursor chemical, five counts manufacturing a controlled substance schedule I, and possession of drug paraphernalia, all of which are felonies.

Police had been receiving complaints from the community that there was possible drug activity at the home and that the renters were likely “cooking meth,” a police investigator has said.

The couple, Floyd Thomas Hellard II, 40, and his wife Jennifer Louise Porter, 48, face the same charges as Money.

Authorities searched the home last week and discovered five one-pot meth labs made from 2-liter soda bottles. The labs contained “liquid,” or meth residue. Investigators seized lithium batteries, a large quantity of Sudafed packages, needles and syringes, Drano, gas generators and salt, as well as other paraphernalia.
Money was booked into the Rowan County Detention Center Wednesday around 7:3o p.m. and remains there under a $500,000 secured bond. He is expected in court today. He also has a pending 2015 case involving operating a vehicle without insurance, registration and a license, as well as misdemeanor possession of stolen goods. He’s expected to appear in court for the traffic infractions in January.
