Firefighters responded to a kitchen fire Tuesday morning after the owner called 911 from a neighbor’s home. The fire occurred around 10:48 a.m. at 355 Jesse Safrit Road, just off Sherrills Ford Road.

Locke Fire Capt. Bradley McKnight said the homeowner was home at the time of the fire. She suffered some smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene by Rowan EMS personnel.

There was significant damage to the kitchen, McKnight said.

The fire was under control within 15 minutes. Franklin Fire, Cleveland Fire, Rowan Rescue, Rowan EMS and the Rowan Fire Marshal’s Office also responded.
