HoneyBaked Ham may be closed for right now, but it won’t be for long.
HoneyBaked Ham of Salisbury will be relocating to the Shoppes at Summit Park shopping center. Nadar Botros, the owner of the restaurant, said it will be right next door to Mattress Firm.
The restaurant closed at the end of last month after spending 10 years at its location at 413 E. Innes St.
Botros said the rent and repair costs for the building were getting to be too expensive.
“In order to keep our (prices) reasonable for the customers, we had to move,” Botros said.
Botros said he has been getting phone calls from customers asking when the restaurant will reopen. He finds the questions encouraging because it means people care about the restaurant.
“I’m very flattered to receive the overwhelming inquiries,” he said.
Botros said he is hoping to reopen the restaurant sometime around Easter.
“We will try to open by Easter and if not, we will try to serve our customers a different way, maybe from a remote location at least for the ham and turkey, until we reopen,” Botros said.
HoneyBaked Ham has been known for giving back to the community by serving free meals once a month and on holidays.
Botros said he will continue to do things like that at the new location and would be happy to serve anyone who comes by.
Though customer favorites will continue to be served, the new location will have a new menu, along with new interior décor.
Botros said from talking with customers, the new location will be more accessible for many people. He said he thinks customers will be pleased with the new location.
“We are all excited about that location,” he said.
