Stress sportsmanship
I attended The North Rowan vs. Salisbury basketball game Thursday night at North Rowan High School. My issue is with respect and sportsmanship.
The North Rowan student body booed when Salisbury entered the gym and during introductions. We used to teach respect for others; what happened to that? A couple of the Salisbury cheerleaders started to do the same and I spoke to the coach and it was taken care of right then.
After the game I spoke with someone I believe was an administrator, very nice and respectful, and he said it would be taken care of. I also spoke to another school official and he said he wasn’t interested in hearing about it. And you wonder why students act like they do. One good thing is I am not the principal or that person would be out of a job. We wonder what is wrong with this world, and that is where it starts, for one thing.

Choice pimento cheese
I read, with interest, the article about Conrad-Hinkle’s pimento cheese, written by Susan Shinn. I lived in Lexington from 1969 until 2008, when I moved to Salisbury. For many years, I enjoyed and bought pimento cheese at Conrad-Hinkle’s, along with other produce and groceries. However, over this time span, their pimento cheese has changed and is now less creamy and more chunky. That is fine and good if that’s your preference. I have found that a Lexington barbecue restaurant, Lexington Style Trimmings, has the absolute best pimento cheese now. I switched to their pimento cheese and find that my friends and neighbors here in Salisbury like it quite well too.
You can purchase this pimento cheese at two locations around Salisbury: A & L Mini Mart in Faith and also at Inland Point Fresh Seafood, West Innes Street.
I am a faithful reader of Susan Shinn’s articles in the Post, but maybe she needs to check out the other brand also.
