From staff reports
An injury to Louisville’s Sheldon Rankins gave defensive tackle Javon Hargrave (North Rowan) an opportunity to play in Saturday’s Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., and Hargrave shared a sack with Virginia Tech’s Dadi Nicolas.
The Senior Bowl is considered the premier college all-star game.
South Carolina State’s Hargrave competed for the South team. Mississippi State QB Dak Prescott led the South to a 27-16 win over the North.
Hargrave also shined last week in the East-West Shrine Game in Pensacola, Fla., and is moving up NFL draft boards. He’s one of the prospects invited to the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. The Combine will be held on Feb. 23-29.
