WOODLEAF — A 20-year-old Mocksville man died Sunday night following a single-vehicle crash at N.C. 801, near Meisemer Dairy Road, N.C. Highway Patrol reports confirm.
Jeremy Wayne Waller reportedly died at the scene, while his passenger Michael Keith Joyner Jr., 40, was taken to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center and later airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, officials said.
It appears Waller may have crossed the center line and struck a tree. It does not appear that speed was a factor. A preliminary crash reports reveals Waller was driving an estimated speed of 60 mph in a 55 mph zone.
Emergency crews performed CPR on Waller at the scene, but it is believed he died at the scene. The crash occurred around 8 p.m.
