Woman allegedly attempts to hit officer with car

Nicole Marie Jackson, 44, of Heron Glen Drive, was charged Saturday for attempting to hit a police officer with her car.
According to the warrant, China Grove Police Officer J. Corriher was performing a traffic stop Saturday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 29 and Ryder Avenue when things got out of hand. As Corriher was issuing a citation to Jackson, the officer said she drove at and attempted to strike him with her vehicle.
Jackson then tried to drive away, but was pursued by officer M.B. Shoemaker. According to the warrant, Jackson was driving recklessly and speeding in excess of 15 mph over the speed limit and in excess of a posted speed limit in a highway work zone.
Jackson was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon on a government official inflicting serious injury and was charged by magistrate’s order with felony fleeing and eluding arrest with a motor vehicle. She was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond.
