Granite woman charged with shooting boyfriend in face

A Granite Quarry woman has been charged with a felony in a shooting sheriff’s deputies say began as a domestic argument.
Justin Joyce, 22, was shot in the face and later taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for treatment.
Cori Mayhew, 23, has been charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
On Sunday, Rowan County sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported shooting in the 700 block of Barringer Street in Granite Quarry. Deputies found Joyce and later discovered the shooting began as an argument.
Mayhew, Joyce’s girlfriend, was charged, arrested and placed in jail with no bond based on the domestic nature of the assault.
She will appear before a judge to have a bond set.
