Prep Wrestling: East’s Wall, Salisbury’s Jackson win regional titles

East Rowan wrestlers did well in the 3A Midwest Regional held in Asheboro on Friday and Saturday.
East Rowan’s Max Wall was regional champion at 170 pounds.
East’s Daniel Muncy placed second at 182. East’s Jeff Burrell was third at 126, and East’s Wesley Porter was fourth at 132.
Carson’s Brady Argabright placed third at 138.
Top four finishers in each regional advanced to state competition on Feb. 18-20 at Greensboro Coliseum.

In the 2A Midwest Regional at South Stokes, Salisbury qualified five wrestlers for state competition, including Darius Jackson, the regional champ at 160.
Salisbury’s Jibri Cowan (132) and Marquise Peele (285) placed third. Willie Clark (152) and Kevion Chunn (220) placed fourth.
North Rowan’s Keith Carroll placed fourth at 120.

In the 4A West Regional at Hough, A.L. Brown’s Nick Sexton (138) and Isaiah Johnson (160) won regional championships.
Marcus Bolick placed third at 170, while Isaac Miles was third at 195.
Sabino Martinez was fourth at 182.

In the 4A Midwest Regional at Southwest Guilford, Davie’s Kyle McCune was third at 170 and Isaiah Olmedo was third at 182.
