Staff report
The NCHSAA announced basketball playoff pairings on Saturday.
West Rowan’s girls are seeded fourth in the 3A West bracket. The Falcons will take on a familiar foe — Robinson of the SPC — in Tuesday’s first round.
West (25-2) won regular-season meetings with the Bulldogs, 52-38 and 55-51.
The Falcons have won 17 in a row and haven’t lost since the Moir Christmas tournament.
Freedom, Asheville Erwin and Ashbrook are the top three seeds.
West actually could’ve been seeded No. 1 as both its losses were non-conference and both were dropped for seeding purposes. West was seeded at 22-0, but so were the other three contenders for the No. 1 seed.
Robinson (9-14) is seeded 29th.
If the Falcons get past the first round, they’ll play on Thursday at home against the winner of the Ledford-St. Stephens game.
If it wins Thursday, West would be home again on Saturday for the third round.
CCC girls runner-up North Rowan (17-7) is the No. 12 seed in the 2A West bracket and will host No. 21 Franklin (14-10) in the first round on Tuesday.
If North wins, the Cavaliers are probably looking at a road trip on Thursday.
Girls teams making the playoffs as at-large teams included Carson (15-11) and East Rowan (12-13) in 3A, Salisbury (14-11) in 2A and Davie (16-10) in 4A.
Carson, the No. 16 seed, plays at No. 17 West Iredell (16-10) on Tuesday.
East Rowan, seeded 26th, plays at No. 7 Central Davidson (19-5) on Tuesday.
Salisbury’s girls are a No. 20 seed and are playing at No. 13 East Burke (18-9) on Tuesday.
Davie’s girls are seeded 25th and will play at No. 8 West Forsyth (19-6).
West Forsyth won the two regular-season CPC meetings with Davie.
East Davidson (25-1) got the top seed in the 2A West bracket.

With North Rowan and Salisbury out of the picture, Carson is the only Rowan boys team in the state playoffs.
The Cougars (13-12) made the playoffs as an at-large team and are seeded 25th in the 3A West bracket. They travel to No. 8 Ashbrook (15-12) on Tuesday.
Davie (14-11) made the 4A playoffs as a No. 27 seed. The War Eagles play at No. 6 Alexander Central (20-6) on Tuesday.
Davie won 72-60 against Alexander Central in a regular-season meeting.
First-round pairings for teams in the SPC, CCC, MECKA and CPC are in today’s Scoreboard.
