Planet Fitness plans to open in Salisbury

A new fitness center is set to come to Salisbury.
Planet Fitness has put up a banner on a building on Jake Alexander Boulevard West. The sign says that the fitness center will be coming in the fall of this year.
John Leatherman, a State Farm Insurance agent, owns the property.
He said Planet Fitness has signed a lease for the property at 712 Jake Alexander Blvd. W., next to Life Church.
Planet Fitness has locations in Charlotte, Mooresville, Concord and Kannapolis.
The fitness center prides itself on low prices, with membership fees as low as $10 per month, and being a “Judgement Free Zone.”
Leatherman said anyone who has the extra money to spend at a fitness center will also have extra money to spend in other places nearby.
“They will be a nice addition to this area,” he said. He also said Life Church is doing well in its spot at 710 Jake Alexander Blvd. W.
According to Preston Mitchell, Planning and Development Services manager, the fitness center has not submitted any plans to Development Services to date.
