A Cleveland man faces multiple charges following a traffic stop.
Brandon L. Scott, 32, of the 14000 block of Statesville Boulevard, was stopped at Ostwalt Amity Road and Triplett Road last Friday night.
Lt. C.L. Stone of the Iredell Sheriff’s Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team stopped a 2004 Chevrolet after it failed to stop at a stop sign at a four-way intersection. The vehicle was traveling at 45-50 mph.
As the officer was getting out of his car, he saw Scott and a passenger identified as Summer D. Scott, 26, switching places in the vehicle.
While questioning Brandon Scott, Stone noticed he was showing signs of being impaired. He asked both people to get out of the vehicle and then searched it.
Stone found an opened beer, along with marijuana and prescription medication. He ordered Brandon Scott to perform several sobriety tests, then arrested him for DWI. Brandon Scott was taken to Iredell Memorial Hospital for a blood test.
He was then taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, and charged with DWI, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license revoked, consuming alcohol while driving and failing to stop at a stop sign.
Summer Scott was charged with aiding and abetting DWI because the vehicle was registered in her name.
