Area Sports Briefs: Salisbury tennis wins; East golf rolls

Salisbury’s tennis team stayed undefeated with a 9-0 CCC win against East Davidson on Monday.
The Hornets (4-0, 1-0) got singles wins from Spencer Storey, Hunter Carlton, David Derrick, Matt Sukkasem, Roarke Burton and William McGee. Storey/Derrick, Carlton/Sukkasem and Burton/ Adam Drye won in doubles.
Salisbury hosts Carson today at 4:30 p.m.
Prep golf
In SPC golf at Irish Creek on Monday, East Rowan shot 145 to win.
Other scores were Hickory Ridge (152), Carson (167), Robinson (167), South Rowan (172), Concord (173), Cox Mill (195), West Rowan (198), NW Cabarrus (199) and Central Cabarrus (201).
East’s scorers were medalist Nick Lyerly (34), Logan Shuping (35), Bryson Sprinkle (36) and Will Garland (40).
Hickory Ridge’s Mack Sheppard shot 35, while Hickory Ridge’s Brody Davis shot 36.
Parker Chavis (38), Andrew Hubbard (41) and Landon Johnson (43) led South Rowan.
Zain Tucker (38), Joseph Mitchem (41), Patrick Street (42) and Robert Bauer (46) led Carson.
Braxton Corriher (47) and Dalton Kepley (49) led West Rowan.
Prep soccer
Gray Stone won 4-0 against Mount Pleasant on Monday. Annie Habeeb scored three goals for Gray Stone (4-0). Wesleigh Harrington had one goal.
Kate Sullivan and Habeeb had assists. The shutout in goal went to Ivy Overcash. The Knights got outstanding play from Laurie Fogleman, Roni Boss and Kelsey Kiser and recorded their third straight shutout. Next up for the Knights is Raleigh Charter on Friday.
Prep baseball
North Rowan’s scheduled game at Uwharrie Charter was postponed to Saturday.
College golf
Catawba’s men’s golf team finished 16th at the Hargett Invitational in Monroe.
Jordan Taylor and Tyler Mulkey (North Rowan) led Catawba with scores of 232.
7th-grade hoops
Erwin’s top-seeded girls topped No. 4 West Rowan 46-12 in a semifinal game in the middle school tournament at China Grove.
Erwin (16-0) plays Southeast (14-2) in the championship game on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
Carleigh Perry led Erwin with 15 points, eight steals and five assists. Jenna Robinson scored 11 points, all in the first half, and Colbie Perry added nine points. Lani Isley had eight assists and eight steals.

North Rowan’s top-seeded boys won 45-2 against China Grove in a first-round game.
Zay Davis led the Mavericks with 10 points. Nick Colson had eight, Kendrell Goodes had seven, James Gladden scored six, and Jaharion Graham added five.
North plays in a 4 p.m. semifinal today against Erwin at China Grove. Knox takes on Mooresville in the other semifinal.
Salisbury Academy
Salisbury Academy’s baseball team won 13-3 against North Hills.
Graham Smith pitched a complete game and struck out five. Nicholas Peltz had two hits. Mitch Jeter and Chad van der Poel had doubles.
