Iredell authorities charged a Rockwell woman this weekend, along with a Statesville man, with having a mobile meth lab after they were stopped in a vehicle in western Iredell County.
Samantha Marie Ewart and Avery Michael Bostain, of the 100 block of Deepwater Lane, were arrested Friday and charged with one count each of felony possession of methamphetamine and felony possession of meth precursor, a statement said.
Iredell deputies stopped the pair and discovered what appeared to be an active lab inside the car. Authorities sealed off the area while detectives with the Iredell County Narcotics Investigation Unit, who are specially trained in how to handle meth labs, responded to the scene.
The investigators said the chemicals found in the vehicle were safe in their current state. Officials found items in the vehicle used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine. After searching the car further, two bags of methamphetamine were located.
Both Ewart and Bostain were issued a $20,000 secured bond and placed in the Iredell County Detention Center.
