Dawn Mauney receives Hair Loss Certification

Dawn Mauney completed a hair loss certification class at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kennesaw, Ga,. in February. She is certified as a hair loss specialist, which allows her to work with dermatologists and oncologists.

Mauney was encouraged to participate with the Look Good, Feel Better program through the American Cancer Society to assist women suffering from hair loss as they undergo chemotherapy. She was trained to service men, women and children by learning to measure and fit a client for a hair loss system and/or unit.

The Comic Book Shoppe to celebrate Free Comic Book Day

The Comic Book Shoppe, at 111A W. Fisher St. in Salisbury, will celebrate Free Comic Book Day on Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Free Comic Book Day has three main purposes: to introduce people to the joys of reading comics, to call back former comic book readers and to thank current comic book buyers for their continued support. Publishers produce special edition comics geared to attracting new readers. There is a wide diversity of comics available, from traditional comics fare like Archie and Disney, superheroes from both Marvel and DC comics as well as work from manga and independent publishers.

People will be able to chose one or two comics from the shop’s selection of free comic book day comics. Those who have a DC or Marvel comic related costume are encouraged to wear it to the store.

There will be a large selection of records including 33s, 45s, 78s and boxed sets for sale and a wide selection of toys and action figures.

Manga books and manga comics will be on sale. Comic Book Subscription Service will be available. There will be a non-sport card partial set sale and a sale featuring New Marvel and DC New 52 partial sets and comic runs.

Free Comic Book Day started in 2002 and is coordinated by the industry’s single large distributor, Diamond Comic Distributors.
