Charlotte man arrested at truck stop; charged with marijuana, pill possession

A Charlotte man was arrested Monday at Love’s Travel Center, charged with marijuana possession and other drug-related offenses.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged Javon Natario Hornes, 27, of the 3300 block of Magnolia Hill Drive, with two counts of possession with the intent to sell and deliver Xanax and marijuana, one count possession of drug paraphernalia. He’s also wanted in Mecklenberg County on a probation violation.

The Sheriff’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) and the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team, assisted by the Salisbury Police Department arrested Hornes  at the truck stop, 1105 Peeler Road, following an undercover investigation.

Authorities say he sold 128 Xanax tablets and one ounce of “hydro” marijuana to an undercover investigator. Hornes was searched and investigators recovered a small amount of money and marijuana. He was issued a $35,000 secured bond and remains in the Rowan County Detention Center.

Hornes had six previous felony convictions in Mecklenburg County for attempted first-degree burglary, attempted second-degree burglary, breaking and entering, and larceny after breaking and entering.
