SALISBURY — A Veterans Expo will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. May 29 at the Rowan County Fairgrounds, 1560 Julian Road.

The event is free and open to the public. There will be military vehicles and displays, information booths for veterans, activities for kids, live music and food.

Powles Staton Funeral Home is the primary sponsor, along with Cloninger Ford, the Rowan County Veterans Council and Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard.

People attending are being encouraged to bring any of their worn American flags for the funeral home’s “Retire Your Flag With Honor” program. The event also will be accepting any new and unwrapped toys for Operation Toy Soldier, which supports active military personnel and their families.
