SALISBURY — Novant Health Foundation Rowan Medical Center’s 18th annual John Campbell Memorial Golf Classic fundraiser was held on May 6 at the Country Club of Salisbury to benefit Novant Health Rowan Medical Center’s emergency department.
The event raised over $120,000 and hosted over 216 participants.
The funds are being used to purchase new stretchers for Novant Health Rowan Medical Center’s emergency department. The stretchers are unique in that they have built-in scales to weigh each patient for the safe calculation of
medication.
The tournament is named in memory of the first executive director of the foundation, John Campbell, and has grown larger each year. The foundation offered over $100,000 in hole-in-one prizes to participants and sponsored various contests, such as the longest putt, longest drive and an overall tournament championship team.
This year, the fundraiser featured an AR-15 Golf Ball Launcher that participants used as their tee shot on the 15th hole.
“The Campbell classic benefits our hospital, and we are so pleased that the community supports this annual event,” said Rick Parker, director of Novant Health Foundation Rowan Medical Center. “The emergency department serves many people in our community so the proceeds will help to support that care.”
