CONCORD — Police have identified two suspects in an attempted armed robbery Tuesday that left a third would-be robber dead.
Authorities have obtained arrest warrants for Javon Alexander Randolph, 25, of Raleigh, and Deontre Antoine Evans, 31, of Hillsborough, according to a news release. Each is charged with armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Randolph is also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.
Police say Randolph, Evans and Abdur Rahim Muhammed tried to rob ConcordOverStock.com, 360 Union Cemetery Road, around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. An earlier news release said two males entered the business brandishing firearms and attempted to rob the business.
A security guard shot Muhammed. Officers found him dead when they arrived.
Investigators determined Muhammed was one of the men who tried to rob the business and that the other man who entered with him had gotten away. Authorities did not say what role they believe the third man had in the crime.
Concord police are working with other agencies in trying to find Randolph and Evans. Investigators ask anyone with information about them to call the Concord Police Department at 704-920-5000 or Cabarrus County Crime Stoppers at 704-932-7463.
