The city of Salisbury and the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce are trying to raise $30,000 to send a Salisbury delegation of children and adults to the All-America City Awards competition in Denver, Colo., June 17-19.

The total raised has grown from $11,321 on Tuesday to $16,000 as of 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The delegates will tout the community’s many programs to help youth, focusing on three: The Norvell Theater, Knox Middle School’s co-principals and the Fit for Motion anti-obesity initiative.
