Multiple charges result from vehicle theft

In a joint investigation between the Mooresville Police Department and Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, a man has been charged with stealing a vehicle, breaking and entering and larceny.
Douglas Scott Groce, 46, was developed as a suspect after a long effort between police and the sheriff’s department. He was charged with felony larceny, felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle and larceny after breaking and entering.
The investigation also found Groce had forged and passed two stolen checks While attempting to pass a third stolen check, it was determined that the checks were stolen from a vehicle in the Mooresville area of Iredell County. It was also discovered that Groce had also stolen a vehicle from another address in Mooresville.
Groce’s criminal history includes several traffic offenses, as well as major offenses. He is being held in Iredell County Jail on a $25,000 bond, along with a $20,000 dollar bond for passing stolen checks.
