SALISBURY — Salisbury Police charged a 60-year-old East Spencer woman with prostitution after a sting along North Long Street. The woman offered an undercover officer sex for $20.

Mary Katherine Brooker, 60, of the 900 block of South Long Street, was charged with misdemeanor prostitution and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police had gotten complaints about the area and initiated an undercover operation. Police arrested Brooker just after midnight Wednesday and upon searching her officers discovered two metal smoking pipes. She remains in the Rowan County jail under a $1,500 secured bond.

Brooker has a few misdemeanor convictions that date to 1996 including larceny and shoplifting.
