CLEVELAND — Blair Hill was diagnosed with diabetes as a toddler in 2012, and it wasn’t long before parents Todd and Melissa Hall Hill looked into getting her a diabetic service dog.
Saturday, Christ Episcopal Church is holding a spaghetti supper fundraiser to get them closer to that dream.
The dinner will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, located at 3430 Old U.S. Highway 70.
The Hills started a GoFundMe page two years ago to raise $20,000 for the dog. So far it has raised $11,347.
They also created a Facebook page for the fundraiser.
“Blair will enter 1st grade in the fall and a service dog by her side will let Melissa and Todd be at ease and handle their jobs without fear,” the Facebook page says.
Donations made by check should be made payable to Blair Hill; a separate account has been set up for the funds until the need is reached. Checks can also be sent to Christ Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 37, Cleveland, NC 27013.
