EAST SPENCER — The town of East Spencer will host its third annual backpack giveaway at Royal Giants Park. The event will be held Saturday, Aug. 27, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the park on Robinson Road.

There will also be free food at the community service event and live gospel music. Local vendors will perform free blood pressure checks and be available to discuss home health care.

The town is partnering with Grateful Heart Ministries in Salisbury accepting donations for the event, including school uniforms and school supplies.

“Our goal is to equip students with the tools needed to have a successful school year,” said Mayor Barbara Mallett.
