David and Marianna Swaim are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Devereaux Howell Swaim, to Alexander Hayden Hunter.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late C L and Charlotte Hampton of Galax, Va. and the late Wilborn and Elinor Swaim of Salisbury. A 2009 graduate of Salisbury High School, she attended American  University and graduated in 2013 from Wake Forest University, with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. She will receive a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in  May 2017.

The future groom is the son of Gerald and Linda Hunter of Woodleaf and the grandson of John and the late Joanne Duda of New Castle, Pa. and William and Kay Hunter of Woodleaf. A 2009 graduate of Salisbury High School, he graduated from Wake Forest University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science. He is currently a third-year medical student at Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine.

The wedding will be held Sept. 9, 2017 at The Arbors in Cleveland.
