Thanks for aid during attempted robbery

I want to thank all that came to my aid on Aug. 2, especially Kim and Ashley and the jury duty person on lunch break, after someone attempted to take my purse.

I was pulled to the pavement. Kim called 911 for me and called my friend.

I especially want to thank the officer who investigated the incident. He showed genuine concern for me. He visited the hospital while I was there and called me that night after I went home. If all of the officers are as good as officer Glover, then we are in very good hands.

The emergency medical technicians were also very professional and demonstrated kindness and concern. I also want to thank the hospital personnel in the emergency room.

To the man who attempted to rob me of my purse, I forgive you. Find some other way to earn money.

Mac Butner will be missed

What a sad day for Rowan County when we lost the unflappable Mac Butner. Having known Mac for many years, many of us knew his love for politics and public service.

Mac always had a heart for Rowan County and worked tirelessly on many committees and projects to benefit all of our fellow citizens. He always had the courage to speak his mind and say just how he felt about issues in Rowan County and North CArolina.

Mac was also very proud of his family and loved them dearly. Those of us who knew Mac well are blessed to have had him as our friend. I feel we will all benefit from his service to our community and state, and he will be especially missed in Rowan County.

Feeding my ego

Thanks to all of ya’ll who “fed my ego” at the Woodleaf Tomato Festival.  So many of you complimented my tan, hair, nails and lavender shirt.  It is very special when folks make a 68-year-old handicapped woman feel beautiful!  I also appreciate when people share how much my stories mean to them.

Although I had to pay for my transportation, it was good for me to get out for an extra day.

And, thanks to all of you who worked so hard to make another successful Woodleaf Tomato Festival!

I am in the hospital now and somewhere between Fisher and Hap’s I lost my cosmetic case.  I didn’t realize it was missing until after I was put in a room.  If anyone finds it, please call me at 704-210-6369.
