SALISBURY — A local father could face charges after he accidentally left his 10-month-old baby in a car Sunday evening while parked at Lowe’s Home Improvement. A customer alerted store personnel that a baby was inside a car with the windows rolled up.
The incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. at the store, 207 Faith Road in Innes Street Market. The father had dropped the mother off at a nearby store and was going to wait in the parking lot, but went into Lowe’s. When the customer alerted the store personnel, the manager went outside and found the door to the car unlocked. The manager took the baby in the store.
Salisbury Police responded, and at the same time the mother ran up to officers saying she could not find her baby. The father said he forgot the child was in the car.
Charges were not filed, but the father could face neglect or child abuse charges. The child was fine. Rowan County Department of Social Services was called.
