The father who left his 10-month-old in the car while he shopped at Lowe’s has been charged with misdemeanor child abuse. He turned himself in to Salisbury Police Wednesday.
Aaron Tyler Ferguson, 31, of China Grove, was released on a written promise by the magistrate with a court date of Oct. 4.
On Aug. 28, Salisbury Police were called to 207 Faith Road in reference to a child being left alone in a vehicle in the parking lot of Lowe’s Home Improvement.
When the officer arrived, the child had already been removed from the vehicle by store personnel. The child was in good condition and not hurt. The mother of the child approached shortly afterwards while the officer was present and wanted to know where the child was. She had been at another store and the child had been left with the father, Ferguson, who was located in the store, and had forgotten the child in the vehicle.
Department of Social Services is following up on this case.
