Western Governors University
The following local residents have received their degree from Western Governors University: Bonnie Church of Cleveland, Annette Wheeler of Salisbury and Vickie Lane of Salisbury.
The university held its 31st semi-annual commencement ceremony in Salt Lake City on July 16 and celebrated the graduation of more than 8,000 graduates.
Local resident installed as CTE president
Carol Harper, a family and consumer science teacher at Jesse Carson High School, was installed as president of the North Carolina Career and Technical Association at the July Career and Technical Education summer conference in Greensboro.
Harper will preside over the state-level conference next July and will be in charge of all state level meeting this year. Harper has been an active member in the organization, occupying many positions in local, regional and state levels over the past 30 years.
