SALISBURY — A former Food Lion cashier was charged with taking about $1,400 over nearly a four-month period from the Faith Road store where she worked, police said.
Salisbury Police charged Shamora Najae Houston, 18, of the 500 block of South Craige Street, with felony embezzlement. She was arrested Monday and has since been released from the Rowan County Detention Center under a $1,000 secured bond.
Police officials said the incidents took place from late June to early September and were discovered by a loss prevention officer. There had been money missing from the till and the company had noted shortages.
Houston is expected in court Thursday.
