Carson’s Micah Furr shot 36 for medalist honors in SPC golf at Rolling Hills on Wednesday.
Cox Mill and Hickory Ridge tied for first place with 130 scores. Concord shot 136 for third.
Hickory Ridge’s Maddie Hayes and Sara Deese shot 40s.
East Rowan was led by Camryn Corriher (46) and Carmen Fraley (48).
The top score for South Rowan was turned in by Ellyse Scarborough (50). Ella Ferguson’s 50 led host West Rowan.

The Rowan County Championship for girls golf will be held on Oct. 13 at the Country Club of Salisbury.
Prep tennis
Carson won, 9-0, against SPC opponent Northwest Cabarrus on Wednesday.
Emily Sloop (6-0, 6-1), Gabi Jolly (6-0, 6-0), Margaret Correll (6-1, 6-0), Olivia Weatherby (6-2, 6-3), Maci Cooper (6-0, 6-0) and Quinnlan Watson (6-0, 6-0) won in singles.
In doubles, winners were Sloop/Correll (10-0), Jolly/Watson (10-2) and Weatherby/Cooper (10-0).
Prep soccer
In East Rowan’s 7-2 SPC loss to Central Cabarrus on Tuesday, the Mustangs got goals from Alex Kalogeromitros and Landon Ketchie.
Prep cross country
In a meet held on Tuesday at Vietnam Veterans Park in Kannapolis, West Rowan’s Oscar Bautista (17:58), Nathan Zauner, Andrew Burgess, Cameron Butler and Cade Harrill finished 1-2-3-4-5 for a perfect score of 15.
Jonah Evans was the top runner for Carson.
Finishing behind West were Hickory Ridge, Northwest Cabarrus, Concord and Carson.
Hickory Ridge’s Kaitlyn Schmidt won the girls race in 22:10.
Carson had three top 10 finishers. Taylor Wiggins was fourth, Taylor Conrad was fifth, and Jessie Nicholas was eighth.
In team scoring, Hickory Ridge won with a 19. Next were Carson, Northwest Cabarrus, West Rowan and Concord.
Prep volleyball
Tori Hester had 13 kills and 18 digs in West Rowan’s sweep of South Rowan on Tuesday.
Hannah Pratt had 27 digs. Braelyn Faust had six kills. Ashley Wood had seven aces, and Khara Fesperman had three aces.

Salisbury swept Central Davidson on Wednesday and evened its record at 7-7.
Salisbury hosts East Davidson in a CCC match today, while North Rowan hosts Lexington.
In SPC matchups today, West Rowan is at Carson; East Rowan is at Hickory Ridge, and South Rowan hosts Cox Mill.
MLB
Seattle’s Kyle Seager (NW Cabarrus) hit his 30th homer of the season on Wednesday afternoon in a 12-4 win against Houston.
Seager has 99 RBIs.
Men’s soccer
Tim Frederik-Lange scored two goals to lead Catawba to a 3-1 win at UNC Pembroke on Wednesday.
Jack Pettett had a goal and Joe Gonzalez made three saves for the Indians (4-3).

Tusculum won, 3-2, against sixth-ranked Pfeiffer on Wednesday.
Tusculum (8-0) tied the contest with 59 seconds left in regulation and netted the game-winner 1:40 into overtime. The win was Tusculum’s third overtime victory on the season and just the Falcons second loss since Nov. 2014.
College tennis
Catawba’s women won, 5-4, against Pfeiffer on Wednesday.
Olivia Nelms and Mylene Petitpas won in singles for Pfeiffer. Catawba (2-0) got singles wins from Olivia Wooldridge, Emily Corcoran Kirstin Saltus and Laura Isenhour (Carson).
Isenhour was down 3-0 in the first set and won 6-4. She was down 4-3 in the second set and won 6-3.
Catawba got one win in doubles, with Isenhour/Erisa Onchi winning 8-0 at No. 3.
Catawba hosts Lenoir-Rhyne on Oct. 5 at 2 p.m.
Mid. school football
The Knox eighth-graders won, 28-0, against Southeast for their second shut of the season.
Knox’s defense was led by linebacker Issiah Clay
Varney Fahnbulleh intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown.
Other strong defensive performances were turned in by Josh Hill, AJ Troutman and Zeek Biggers.
Scoring on offense for the Trojans were receiver Joe Witherspoon, and running backs Sincere Houston and Mike McClean.
Clay and Troutman accounted for 2-point conversions. QB Vance Honeycutt directed the offense behind strong line play.
Knox plays North Rowan next week.
North Rowan shut out China Grove 32-0 on Wednesday.
Jayvee football
Salisbury is hosting West Montgomery in a makeup jayvee football game tonight.
Other games: West Rowan at Carson; Cox Mill at South Rowan; East Rowan at Hickory Ridge.
Davie is at Reagan, while A.L. Brown is at Vance.
Local golf
The Civitan Club of Salisbury will be hosting its 41st Annual Civitan Golf Classic on Friday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. at the Salisbury Country Club.
All proceeds will benefit Civitan causes and scholarships.

NCHSAA
Emilee Wenmoth of North Davidson and Caleb Farley of Maiden were named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week awards.
Farley, a senior quarterback, was responsible for eight touchdowns, five through the air and three on the ground in Maiden’s 60-7 win over Bunker Hill. He completed 16 of 23 passes for 312 yards while rushing 13 times for 225 yards.
In the last two games, Farley has accounted for more than 1,000 yards of total offense.
Wenmoth, a senior golfer at North Davidson, fired a school record 2-under par 33 in Monday’s Central Piedmont Conference match.
She has been the match medalist in the first three CPC matches this season.
SC Panthers baseball
The South Charlotte Panthers 2018 team will play a doubleheader at Newman Park on Sunday at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
There will be no gate admission charged.
Area members of the SCP 2018 team are Carson’s Owen White, Cameron Prugh, Maddux Holshouser and Clayton Gilmore.
