Fundraiser today for Dakota Roseborough

SALISBURY — A fundraiser will be held today to help the family of a 10-year-old boy recently diagnosed with brain cancer.

Tangy Roseborough describes her grandson, Dakota Roseborough, as “a lively precious soul who loves the Seattle Seahawks.”

In recent months, Dakota lost his appetite, walked in his sleep, became excessively thirsty and experienced headaches. A doctor diagnosed “growing pains” in August, but a severe headache last month brought more tests and the cancer diagnosis, Roseborough said.

Dakota attends Pitt School Road Elementary in Cabarrus County and is an active member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, where he participates on the usher ministry and children’s church.

“His prognosis is very good.” Roseborough says. “Although starting chemotherapy has been hard on his little body, we rely on our faith that he will be declared healed in April of 2017.”

Dakota’s support system includes his parents, Gwyneth Roseborough and Jasper Franklin, and little sister Moriah.

Accounts have been set up at GoFundMe.com, Paypal and Wells Fargo Bank.

The fundraiser will be held today in the parking lot of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 719 S. Caldwell St., from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

“If love could heal, it would already be done,” Roseborough said.
