Oakboro woman cited after driving car through fire department doors

SALISBURY — An Oakboro woman was issued a citation Wednesday after she drove her vehicle through the front door of the Salisbury Fire station, 514 E. Innes St. No firefighters were injured.
Salisbury Police officials say Tina Meshele Ballestero, 49, drove through the closed glass bay door and out the back. She stopped the 2007 Honda once on the outside and got out.
Police say Ballestero was was yelling what they believe to be her wife’s name and was unsteady on her feet. There were no vehicles parked in that area, but her vehicle did cause an estimated $6,000 in damages. Her vehicle’s damages were estimated to be around $8,000.
Police issued the citation while Ballestero was at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.
