UMA meets today

United Ministerial Alliance will meet at 11 a.m. today at Tower of Power United Holy Church, 601 E. Cemetery St. Clergy is welcome.

Clothing giveaway today

Fairview Heights Baptist Church, 704 Old Concord Road, will have a community clothing giveaway today from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

The Lomax boys organize fund raiser

Dylan and Dalton Lomax ( 9 and 10 years old) have begun a fundraiser with a goal of $1,000. The money will go to two families who have children suffering from illness. The first family has a 2-year-old with spina bifida and the second family has a newborn with a rare skin disease called ichthyosis.

A hot dog sale will be held today from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the intersection of Old Concord Road and Hwy. 152 (Bostian Heights).

Donations of food or money can be made by contacting Donna at 704-637-2481 or 704-223-2115. Monetary donations will be accepted until Dec. 15. Prayers for emotional, physical and financial healing are needed and appreciated for the Horne and Honeycutt families.

Thanksgiving service at Mt. Zion UCC

CHINA GROVE — During the new 10:30 a.m. service time at Mount Zion United Church of Christ, 1415 S. Main St., a fruit offering will be gathered to share with the homebound and community, and the Children’s Choir will sing.

At 5 p.m. is the community Thanksgiving dinner followed by a fundraising auction on behalf of Main Street Mission. Donations to Main Street Mission may be sent to P.O. Box 1298 China Grove, NC 28023

Anniversary at Henderson Grove

Henderson Grove Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate the sixth anniversary of the Rev. Perry J. Dye and Cassandra Dye on Sunday. The 11 a.m. speaker will be the Rev. Lewis Walker, pastor of Rose of Sharon Holiness Church. Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m. The 3 p.m. speaker will be the Rev. Arthur Heggins, pastor of St. Luke Baptist Church.

Lewis speaks at First Presbyterian

First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury welcomes Dr. Bob Lewis as the guest speaker on Sunday. Lewis retired after 24 years of service at First Presbyterian. He will preach at all three worship services: Sanctuary at 8:30 and 11 a.m. and in Lewis Hall at 8:50 a.m. Consecration Sunday will be celebrated at all services.

Hall’s Temple anniversary service

Hall’s Temple will celebrate the 24th pastoral anniversary of the Rev. Elder Bruce on Sunday at 3 p.m. Speaking at the 11 a.m. service will be Minister George Flower and at 3 p.m., the Rev. Jerry Miller, pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church, along with other invited churches.

United Baptist appreciation service

KANNAPOLIS — Come and celebrate Pastor & Mrs. John E. Jones Appreciation Service at United Baptist Church, 3001 Clermont Avenue, Kannapolis. John Jones is pastor.

Musical benefit at Gethsemane

The Music Ministry of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church will hold a musical benefit for Dakota Rosebourgh and Laila Bryant on Sunday at 4 p.m. These two children are undergoing treatment for cancer. Donations will be accepted to assist them and their families.

Scheduled groups include the Disciples of Joy, Spiritual Voices of Salisbury, Southern City Inspirational Choir, Heirs of Salvation, The Ford Family of China Grove, The Anointed Vessels of the Carolinas and  Gethsemane Mass Choir, GMBC Men’s Choir and Chosen Generation Mime Team.

Benefit concert at New London UMC 

NEW LONDON — NLUMC Mission in Music series presents Braden Harwood, singer-songwriter-guitarist, in concert on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. The concert is free, but any donations will be forwarded to victims of hurricane Matthew.

Liberty UMC Thanksgiving meal

GOLD HILL — On Sunday at 5:30 p.m. Liberty United Methodist Church, 3940 Liberty Road, will host a Thanksgiving meal with service following the meal. Proceeds go to the sanctuary ceiling fund.

The Arbor and Enon offer joint service

The Arbor United Methodist Church, 5545 Woodleaf Road, along with Enon Baptist Church, will hold a joint Thanksgiving Service on Sunday at 6 p.m. at Enon, located at 1875 Enon Church Road.

The Rev. Frank Gordon of The Arbor will deliver the message.

Musical Thanksgiving service at Bethel

MOCKSVILLE — Bethel United Methodist Church/Mocksville will hold its Thanksgiving service on Sunday. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. and worship will be at 7 p.m. with Hazy Ridge Bluegrass Band bringing the message in song. Bethel United Methodist Church is located at 353 Bethel Church Road. The Rev. Landis community Thanksgiving service

LANDIS — The Landis Community Thanksgiving Service will be held at First Reformed Church, 210 N. Central Ave., Sunday at 7 p.m. Participating churches are First Reformed, First United Methodist, Grace Baptist; Landis First Assembly of God, Mt. Moriah Lutheran, New Piney Grove Baptist, Sandy Ridge AME Zion and Trinity Lutheran.

Pastor Clarence Shuford will bring the evening message, and special music will be provided by The Voices of Joy, from First Reformed, and the Sandy Ridge AME Zion Mass Choir. An offering will be taken for Main Street Mission in China Grove. A reception will follow the service.

Community service at New London UMC

NEW LONDON — On Sunday, New London United Methodist Church, 206 S. Main St., will host the New London Community Thanksgiving Service, beginning at 7 p.m. Participating will be First Baptist Church, New London, New London First Baptist Church, Highland Baptist Church, Parker’s Grove Baptist Church and New London United Methodist Church.

A reception will follow the worship service. An offering will be received for the support of Stanly Community Christian Ministry.

EAST SPENCER — The United Ministerial Alliance will host its joint worship service at 7 p.m. Sunday at Love Christian Center, 102 N. Long St. The Rev. Joseph Robinson, pastor of New Creation Baptist Church in Statesville, will deliver the message. Bishop W. Ronald Hash is the host pastor.

Rockwell community service

ROCKWELL — The Rockwell Community Thanksgiving Service will be held at Organ Lutheran Church on Sunday at 6 p.m. The guest pastor will be The Rev. Bruce Sheeks, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church. A fellowship time with refreshments will follow the service.

Christ UMC hosts joint service Monday

Christ United Methodist Church, 3401 Mooresville Road, will come together with other local churches for a Community Thanksgiving Service on Monday at 7 p.m. in thanks for God’s love, his mercy and his blessings.

Thanksgiving day joint service

Word of Life Family Worship Center and Progressive Outreach Ministries will celebrate Thanksgiving with a special Thanksgiving Day Service from 11 a.m.- 12:15 p.m. on Thursday at Word of Life Family Worship Center, 726 East Liberty St. Pastor Nasby Mills of Progressive Outreach Ministries will be the speaker. There will be special music from both the host and visiting choirs.

Donations of new toys accepted

Doing the Word Ministry is gathering donations of new toys for needy families.

The Lord laid it on the heart of Patricia McConneaughey to help 50 families; so far she has identified 37 in need of toys. Her collection site is at The Family Closet 2 Consignment Shop in West End Plaza. Deadline for collection is Dec. 10.

Resurrection Life speaker

Resurrection Life Church, 627 Newsome Road, will have Clara Snipes Edenburn sharing Sunday morning during the 10 a.m. worship service.

Edenburn has traveled to Central America and distributed shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child Shoebox ministry in Belize. Come hear the stories of how God uses a small shoebox to change the life of a child at Christmas.
